In partnership with the Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF), we've pledged $200,000 a year in scholarships to provide financial assistance to current and prospective students at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).
This year, we are spreading our message by celebrating the music that makes campus life so special: marching bands! We created free sample kits that allow you to make a song featuring HBCU marching bands. Not only can you attend your dream university, you can produce school pride!

Alongside TMCF, Sour Patch Kids created the Mischief for Change scholarship to support the students willing to use mischievous ideas to spark change.
Ten (10) students will be selected to receive the scholarship. Apply now and tell us about the time you mischievously moved society forward.
To celebrate our students’ creativity and our schools’ diversity, we turned HBCU marching band fight songs into sample kits.
Make a track with one of our samples, post in on TikTok with #SampleOurSchools and tag @therealsourpatchkids. If your mix is sweet enough, we’ll post it on our platform!
Alabama’s Tuskegee University has enjoyed an impressive history of excellence. Since 1906, their Crimson Piper marching band has fostered sophisticated showmanship from their students, and in 2023 they tell the story of their #3 HBCU with pride.
Atlanta’s Morehouse College is where culture meets creativity, technology, and intelligence. Their House of Funk marching band celebrates a legacy of brilliance with an energetic combination of drums, wind, and jazz. They bring the more-house down in every performance.
North Carolina’s Winston-Salem University is the perfect place to ignite your passion and make a difference in the world (with mischief). Their Red Sea of Sound marching band features exhilarating versatility from the dancers to the drummers, making every show a parade.
